of Columbus, GA. I went to Georgia Southwestern State University to earn my
B.A. I am married and have two dogs. Although I have one year under my belt, I
still feel new to teaching. I am very excited about this class and the new
ideas and methods I can learn for my career.

· Your areas of special interest/expertise in English: My special interests are vast-I love Gothic Lit
(Classic and Southern) and British Literature (Medieval and Victorian) is my
favorite to read.
· What you’d like us to know: I love reading and am a
self-proclaimed Author Stalker. I love visiting indie bookstores and meeting my
favorite authors to hear them talk about their books and writing. I have
"met" my favorite author, Joshilyn Jackson 3-4 times! I have 2
great (grown) kids and 2 delightful granddaughters.

A few things you’d like the rest of the class to know about you: I’ve been waiting for a class focused on English content so I’m extremely excited to begin learning as much as possible. I look forward to working with everyone and combining our interests and areas of expertise. I love a great discussion and a class filled with people who have a passion for literature and writing.

What grades/courses you will be teaching in the spring: ESOL 1-II beginner class, a ESOL III, IV upper level ESOL course (linked to 11th and 12th grade lit/writing standards), and finally a 9th Lit/Composition course. The 9th lit course is designed for ESOL students to earn 9th grade lit credit.
Number of months or years you’ve taught: have been teaching for six years, all in ESOL. My original certification is in Health and P.E., but my first year I got a position in ESOL and have loved it ever since!
Your areas of special interest/expertise in English: ESOL and vocabulary strategies are my areas of interest in English.

Jace White

School where you’ll be teaching in the spring: I will be doing my ten week student teaching session at Veterans High School in Houston County.
What grades/courses you will be teaching in the spring: I will be teaching tenth grade honors literature. I have never had my own classroom.
Number of months or years you’ve taught: Prior to entering the MAT program and corresponding student teaching assignments, I was a full time substitute teacher for a year.
Your areas of special interest/expertise in English: I have a particular interest in dystopian fiction, regardless if it is considered literature, sci-fi, fiction or YA. I am also interested in using graphic novels and comics as teaching tools and assigned readings. I would say I am particularly skilled at the writing process even if I am not the best at grammar.
A few things you’d like the rest of the class to know about you: My undergrad is in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies. I did most my writing for print media, so I understand the formulaic approach to informative writing and storytelling. I work at Books a Million in Warner Robins. My favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut and George Orwell. Lastly, my birthday is on our first day of class, January 24th.
